No one…and I mean none of us wanted to get up this morning…a combo of the continuous rain, cold and long days have knackered us…but alas, it’s our last full day so needs must…
Up you get you lazy buggers, Disneyland waits for no one!
Task of the morning was to add to the silly hat collection. Grayson ever jealous of my amazing goofy hat decided that he wanted a Pluto version “yeah Plutos cooler, he’s got a winky eye”…to be fair, it’s pretty cool. Ok then, you guys chill at Starbucks while me and Lou go and grab the damn hat…oh and while we’re at it, Alaska, why don’t you try on every other hat in the store too…finally managed to get away with just the one hat…and a snap band for Madame Lou. I got off easy there…phwew!!
On to Disneyland park next, yet to check out the main street stores so it was straight to the emporium to get a few gifts…one of which Alaska appeared to treat herself to because once we’d paid and made our way back to the wagon, we discovered that Alaska had procured herself a new toy…ffs child…back to pay for it then…she got her present after all…you can take the girl out of Merthyr ey…
Booked in to Winnie the Pooh meet and greet, so had time for a potter around…perfect timing to find the newly released limited edition 30th anniversary Pandora charm…felt like Indiana Jones hunting one down, but got it…and I didn’t even have to fight off any snakes or heart eating priests to get it…score!!
Bit of lunch at Casey’s Corner then…a staple of Disneyland…not great food, but decent enough…few hotdogs, nuggets and fries…lovely…even if Alaska did eat most of them…Greedy bugger!!! She did have a slight rude awakening though when she shoved a massive piece of mustard covered hotdog in her mouth…oh the face of regret 😂
Great little meet and greet with Winnie the Pooh, some magical photos of the kids, and a few with me and Gray in our matching hats…and a few more in front of the castle…got to get the castle pics when in Disney see…
Discoveryland…finally!! It’s only taken us 4 days to get here…the kids were desperate to ride some rides…and Alaska wanted to go flying…so Orbitron it was…or rather it would have been if we could find the way in…bugger it, Buzz Lightyear instead then. Loves bit of Laser blast…and Jordan was devastated to see that Grayson blitzed her score…like genuinely devastated…we laughed, she cried…we all had a good time.
Look around the constellations shop to bribe the kids with toys to keep them quiet for grandma whilst me and Jo hit up HYPERSPACE MOUNTAIN!!! We love the Star Wars re theme, it fits well and is better engineered than the Flight Force overlay in the Studios…
We’re down this way, so Philharmagic? Yeah why not!! Mags is doing so well today, hasn’t crashed her scooter into anything or anyone…actually, I tell a lie…Starbucks this morning would have been the scene of a triple homicide had the family who had set their bags down on a table hadn’t been in the queue for coffee…the less said the better. Anyways…like a boss, she powered in to the gate of the disabled entrance to the show, and then again into a wall in the theatre…I think she was just taking out her rage on the closures of Small World and Buffalo Bills…she needs an outlet I guess…poor Lou ended up watching the whole show without her 3D glasses on…a mistake that Grayson claims would blind her!!! Poor thing, let’s hope not.
Ooo Dark Vader meet and greet…it’s Darth Vader Gray, but hey, I’m sure he won’t be offended…best watch out for the force choking…speaking of which, Gray and Alaska spent most of our time queuing to meet Darth force choking the other people in the queue…not sure if they were just playing along or the force is strong with the kids…either way, I’m trying to stay ok their good side. Darth interaction was great…nearly pissed myself laughing when he started interacting with Mags…”I heard your training to be an X-Wing pilot”…”oh definitely Darth”…I bloody hope not with the way she’s been driving this scooter all week, we’d all be doomed.
Droid build then? Not quite the extravagant build we had in Orlando, but fun little droid build…Alaska and myself built a lovely little purple droid, whilst team dark side (Jo and Gray) ended up building a fully black droid, with a gold head to jazz it up a bit…you would not believe the disappointment in Jordan’s eyes when Gray decided…ah bugger it, I don’t want this anymore, and went an built a fully red droid instead…complete with Santa hat for full colour completion…all Jordan’s efforts gone to waste (though we did dissuade him from the Santa hat)…waste of money for what they were to be fair, but the kids had fun…Jordan, not so much.
Anyways…Star Tours for Jo and Gray,
Videopis for Lou, Grams and myself…it’s gone bitterly cold today, with intermittent hail, so we went for a bit of a warm…
Grayson loved Star Tours!
Soon enough, the party joined back and we were in Fantasyland…got a few things we wanna do here…
Quick snack and a warm drink…I made the mistake of thinking we could all share a Minnie shaped biscuit between us…I thought wrong!!! Alaska wouldn’t let anyone near her biscuit, and Gray was gutted…so I bought a giant assed shortbread to counteract it…which Alaska then claimed and allowed us all to share her biscuit instead…how generous. Not kidding though, this shortbread was bigger than my head!! And also managed to take a tour of 3 rides with us…Alaska travelling biscuit, coming to an instragram near you!!
Few rides on Dumbo and the Carousel, the kids absolutely living their best lives…pure joy and happiness!!!
Jordan even happier!!
Sword in stone…Grayson up first, and as in Orlando, he was fuming when it didn’t budge…Alaska in the other hand, I’m sure given more time she could have released it…she’s got some strength on her aii…I didn’t want to chance being embarrassed by my kids so gave it a miss.
Quick visit to the Dragon under the castle…brilliant, we love it, the kids love it…we love the castle in France, and the fact you can walk through, up and under it…it’s much better here…and we got a customised glass wand from the wand shop in the castle too. The kids and Jo all chose a colour to add, and my special little addition to it was paying for it…how generous of them all…thanks guys.
Back to the hotel with a maccas for mags and the kids then…this weather is so sporadic, it’s freezing and rainy one minute, then hit with a blast of sun, and then back to hail…poor mags looks like a drowned rat mun…have a warm and watch the Disney channel with the kids instead…much nicer.
It did give me and Jo a chance to pop back to the park for a bit though, there’s a new nighttime spectacular on tonight…yay!!
Quick cheesy pretzel for dinner, and a bit of shopping…it’s hammering down so an umbrella is on the priority list…well it was until we saw the cost…€50!!!! No thanks, I’ll suffer and save some money…mental price.
Bit more shopping in Disney arcades and emporium, and Jordan treats us to a cake pop each…Minnie for me obviously…and Mickey for Jordan…we’re not gender stereotypes here. Nice chocolate cake lol to be fair…where to next drive?? Baubles then, obviously…would be disappointed if we left without one…and then hit up Big Thunder Mountain. This is literally our favourite coaster here, and probably one of our top in any Disney Park…so damn good!!!
Bit more pottering around the shop, and a little bit of Pixie Dust…the cashier gave us over half our our shopping free (and we luckily had the same happen earlier in the evening also)…amazing, and the cashiers are so nonchalant about it too…now that’s some Disney magic…Jordan was sure to get straight in the phone and tell her Mam that we finally got some picnic dust! The lucky bugger always gets pixie dust 😂
Anyways, kids free for the evening so back to Hyperspace mountain…brilliant, and the Buzz Lightyear for Jordan to get schooled by me…just…phwew, my pride almost got a kicking there…
And just like that it was time to start the hour long stand in spot for the nighttime show…it’s mental, we found a nice spot almost an hour before the show starts…so I go to fuel us with popcorn, and whilst in line, Jordan has amassed a ground of followers…ok I best leave the line before I can’t get back to her…and more importantly lose my prime viewing area.
Anyways, new show is good…long…like really bloody long, but a nice splice of lasers, visuals, fireworks, water and fire…so well worth the wait…but no drones, the weather ruined it again!!!
Cue the long walk out of the park and some last minute packing…home tomorrow evening, but we’ve had such a great time here…not leaving until tomorrow afternoon so still have a little bit of Disney magic left to go…we’ll milk it for all we can!!!
